In a significant development in the matter of the I-T raids that have been ongoing in Madhya Pradesh since Sunday, the department has recovered hides and skins of endangered species such as Black buck, Sambar deer, Chital (spotted dear) and others, to add to the massive unaccounted cash trail information that was unearthed.
Republic TV has accessed visuals of the I-T department's animal-hide seizures as well as illegal weapons while raiding the residence of Ashwin Sharma, an associate of Praveen Kakkar (OSD to Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath) in Bhopal.
Following the development, a team from the Forest department has been called to take cognizance of the event. Sources said that the team from the forest department will investigate the matter to find out if he has bought these items from elsewhere or is it a poaching racket.
Denying the allegations by the I-T department, Kakkar in his statement to the media on Sunday, April 7 had said:
"I-T team from Delhi came to my home, around 3.30 at night they broke the door of my house and entered, I can show you that. After scrutinising the place for two days they have not been able to find any documents."
However, on Monday evening, the I-T department had issued a sensational note on its findings, detailing how a part of unaccounted cash worth of Rs. 281 crore was transferred to the headquarter of a 'major political party' in Delhi from Madhya Pradesh. It further adds on how Rs. 20 crore was moved through 'hawala' to the headquarter of a political party from the residence of a senior functionary at Tughlak Road in New Delhi.
The same note had also spoken of the animal skin recoveries as well as documentary evidence:
Ashwin Sharma, is an associate of Praveen Kakkar, the OSD to Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath.
