Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to his Lok Sabha constituency, Varanasi shared his vision to make India a developed nation with a thriving economy, a day after the Union Budget 2019.

Emphasising on his point, PM Modi gave an analogy between a proverb that states 'the size of the cake matters' and the $5 trillion dollar economy target of the country.

He said, "There is a proverb in English, that the "size of the cake" matters. It means, the bigger the cake, the bigger a slice people would get. That is why our goal is to make India a $5 trillion dollar economy."

"The bigger the size and the shape of the economy, then naturally, the country's prosperity would be bigger. In Gujarati there is a proverb, which means if the well in full, then the water will reach the lake and fields. This will bring prosperity in the lives of people. It is an obvious thing, that their standard of living will be higher too," he added.

Moreover, PM Modi assured that India is capable of becoming a developed country with a thriving young population.

He said, "If we look at all the developed countries, then most of those countries at one point in history did not have a high per capita income. But even then, in the history of these countries, a time came when in a short period of time the per capita income took a leap. That was the time when they came in the category of the developed country from a developing country."

"India can't wait for too long, even India can do this. In the 21st century when India is the youngest country, then even this goal is not difficult," he added.
