Hailing the biggest voter turnout in the 2019 Lok Sabha election which saw the election of maximum number of women representatives to the Lok Sabha, he said:

"This election witnessed the largest voter turnout, the election of women leaders. After many years, it was witnessed that a new government came to power with even more mandate. The citizens have given the opportunity to serve. My experience also suggests that when the Parliament functions smoothly, we are able to fulfil numerous aspirations of the people of India."

He further added that he expects the Opposition leaders to not focus on the numbers and speak and actively participate in the house proceedings, adding that in Parliament, we forget about Opposition and think about the larger interest of people.

"I expect every group to debate and discussion on the issues which are in benefit for every individual. The role of an Opposition and an active Opposition is important in a Parliamentary democracy. The Opposition need not bother about their numbers. I hope they speak actively and participate in house proceedings. When we come to Parliament, we should forget Paksh and Vipaksh. We should think about issues with a ‘Nishpaksh spirit’ and work in the larger interest of the nation," he added.

The first session of 17th Lok Sabha will commence on Monday, during which will see the passing of the Union Budget and some key legislations like Triple Talaq bill being on top of the government agenda.
