Modi shared the video of him, along with Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah, showering flowers on the Sardar Patel statue and bowing their heads in respect. The people present at the venue can be heard chanting Modi’s name and slogans.

Sardar Patel’s Statue of Unity in Kevadia, a project started by the Gujarat government when Modi was the Chief Minister, is the tallest statue in the world.

Incidentally, former MP from the state, Paresh Rawal had mentioned Modi in the same breath as Sardar Patel after the election results.

He had written, “Had said earlier and will repeat again - Sardar Patel had Unified India and @narendramodi will not let it disintegrate . Relax India we are truly in Safe hands . Jai Ho . Vande Matram .”

After leading the BJP-led NDA to a landslide victory with the alliance winning 353 seats, including an unprecedented 303 by the BJP, PM Modi tendered his resignation to President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday.

Modi then staked claim to form the Government and was nominated as the Prime Ministerial candidate of the alliance. Modi even addressed the NDA Members of Parliament set to join the Lok Sabha at a meeting on Saturday.
