Ahead of the funeral for nation's hero Major Vibhuti Shankar Dhoundiyal in Haridwar, Uttarakhand who was martyred in the Pulwama encounter operation, the nation paid its tribute in the most befitting way.
Chants saluting the braveheart echoed where the Major's mortal remains lay, with slogans like 'Major Dhoundiyal Amar Rahega', 'Inquilab Zindabad', 'Bhartiya Sena Zindabad' filling the place.
The ceremony was crowded, with officials from Indian forces, the family of the martyr as well as with people sloganeering in support and praise for Indian Army and the slained Major joining in to pay tribute to the hero.
Chants criticizing Pakistan and the country's Prime Minister Imran Khan were also raised by the public.
In a heartwarming scene, the wife of Major Dhoundiyal who was married a year ago spent her final moments with the martyr.
The young Major, say sources close to him, always led from the front and was a huge inspiration to his men. Even during his last moments on the battlefield, he took the bullets from the enemy but never turned his back to them.
Sources say that as per his wife, his last words to her were that it was important to save others and you need to be brave all the time.

In a huge victory to the Indian forces in a joint operation led by the Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir police, three Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists were neuratalised by them. The terrorists were behind the attack on the CRPF forces which led to the martyrdom of the at least 40 men.
