In yet another shocking incident in Uttar Pradesh's Budaun, cops were attacked by villagers as a scuffle broke between people of two villages. The incident took place days after 10 people were killed in a shootout over a land dispute in Sonbhadra. Sources informed that the incident in Budaun was also a result of land dispute between two parties in adjacent village. The video that has been accessed by the Republic media shows the cops trying to handle the situation while the villagers attack the cops. Sources said that FIR has been filed in the case at the Dataganj Police station.
In the video, angry villagers can be seen with sticks and indulging in a verbal fight with the Police whereas the Police is trying to take away the weapons from the people. In what comes as a shocking display of law and order situation crumbling in the state of Uttar Pradesh pistol of a cop is snatched by the villagers while he tries to calm the villagers. The villagers can be heard saying that the there is no need of investigation as the Police has no idea of what happened.
The development comes after the shocking Sonbhadra incident that is becoming a major political event in the country after Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra went there and staged a dharna. On Wednesday, ten people were shot dead during a shootout in a village in UP's Sonbhadra district over a land dispute. In the shootout, over 20 other people also suffered injuries. The police arrested 24 people in connection with the shootout.
Speaking over the incident on Friday, UP CM Yogi Adityanath assured that strict action will be taken against the accused in the matter.
"29 criminals arrested till now, a single barrel gun, 3 double-barrel guns and a rifle have been seized. Whoever is found responsible for this incident, strictest action will be taken against them," he said.
