In a video capturing a light moment of a politician, former Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav is seen buying a corn cob by a street vendor and also having a banter with the vendors.
Yadav who is traveling in a car stops by to purchase a corn cob. The vendors are seen getting busy with preparing the delectable snack for him, getting the chili-salt mix and the lemon.
Yadav takes the corn and the sliced lemon from the vendor and engages in banter asking him as he squeezes the citrus fruit over the bhutta. He asks the vendor about his village and gives him a friendly rebuke about the cost of the corn.
Yadav has had a tough period following his party Samajwadi Party and the gathbandhan with BSP facing a drubbing in Lok Sabha elections. The Bua-Bhatija coalition won only 15 out of 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh.
While Mayawati blamed the SP chief for the loss, Yadav said that while the 'gathbandhan' experiment had failed, it did not change his perception of BSP Supremo Mayawati. . He also added that the trial had identified the limitations in his party.
"Trials happen many times and you may not succeed at times, but you at least get to know your limitations. I can assure you that I stand by what I had said about Mayawatiji in the first press conference, that my glory is her glory," he said.
On contesting independently in the UP Assembly elections he added that he would consult with his party officials and strategize a plan as more 'Samajwadi' people were needed in the government for 2022.
"Talking about the gathbandhan and contesting alone, the path in politics is always open. For contesting independently in the coming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, I will talk with all my party officials and will strategize a plan accordingly. And in 2022, we will work towards electing Samajwadi people into the government as it is the need of the country," he added.
