In a shocking incident, a 22-year-old Muslim man, identified as Tabrej, died on Sunday after he was beaten up by locals and later arrested on suspicion of theft in Saraikela Kharsawanand, Jharkhand.
As per news agency ANI, Tabrej's family has alleged that the attack was communal and that he was made to chant slogans of 'Jai Shri Ram' and 'Jai Hanuman' by the locals.
Responding to the incident, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi targeted the BJP and RSS, saying that they have successfully created a mindset where Muslims are seen as terrorists, anti-nationals & cow slaughters. Speaking to media, Owaisi further claimed that such incidents against the Muslim community will not stop until the BJP fulfil their Constitutional duties properly.
"Incidents of mob lynching are not going to stop because BJP & RSS have increased the sense of hatred against Muslims. They've successfully created a mindset where Muslims are seen as terrorists, anti-nationals & cow slaughters. These incidents are not going to stop. I have been saying this again and again to stop these people, but they keep saying that no, we have to de-radicalise Muslims. Who will de-radicalise Muslims? They ask Muslims to raise slogans and then they beat them. These incidents will only stop when BJP will do their constitutional duties properly. They are failing in their duties," said the AIMIM chief.
The deceased man's parents have claimed that some locals thrashed him, calling it a "communal attack".
"Some locals thrashed Tabrej and later gave him over to the police. He was suspected of theft but it was a communal attack. He was beaten because he had a Muslim name. They made him chant 'Jai Shri Ram' and 'Jai Hanuman' again and again. We were not allowed to meet him at the hospital. We have the video of the incident. I demand the culprits be arrested," Tabrej's relative Maqsood Alam said while speaking to ANI.
Meanwhile, an FIR has been registered and further investigation is underway, police said.
