From life experiences to anecdotes, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a candid interview with Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar at his Delhi residence 7 Lok Kalyan marg. In the interview, PM Modi spoke about everything beyond politics and election.
On being questioned about his post-retirement plan, PM Modi shared an unmissable anecdote about a meeting of the inner circle which included former Prime Minister Atal Bihar Vajpayee, LK Advani, late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan among others. Stating that he cannot imagine himself doing something else except his work after retirement, PM Modi said:
"An inner circle meeting happened. Atal ji was there, Advani ji was there, Vijaya Raje Scindia ji was there, Pramod Mahajan was also there, and I was the youngest one there. Discussions were taking place, but ahead of meeting, they started discussing about their post retirement plans. Everyone spoke about their plans. Pramod Mahajan used to take notes from their sayings. Pramodji had a very unusual characteristic, his life was full of adventures. He used to keep himself involved in various activities. When they asked me, I told them, it is quite difficult for me because I don't know anything. I never thought about it. I always thought the decision I took, I made it my life. My responsibilities are my life. And that is why I can never imagine, I will have to do something to keep myself engaged (after retirement). That is why I never thought about it. I have determined that I will fulfill my life with some task or the other."
Speaking during the interview, 'Khiladi' Kumar asked PM Modi him if he ever thought that one day he will become the Prime Minister of India. Responding to the question, PM Modi professed that he never thought about it, adding that her mother would have been equally happy if he would have gotten a small job.
"I never thought of it. And common people do not think about it. People who might become one think about it. It is quite natural that people who come such (political) family background have the desire (to be PM). With my family background, my mother would have been celebrating by feeding jaggery to neighbours if I would have gotten even a small job. She would have been that her son got a job, because in those times we did not see anything outside the village. This journey kept on going and the country kept me moving ahead. Responsibilities kept on coming," the Prime Minister said.
