BJP National Secretary Kailash Vijayavargiya's son Akash Vijayavargiya was arrested from Indore, Madhya Pradesh for thrashing civic officials in public view on camera on Wednesday. Akash Vijayavargiya, an MLA in Madhya Pradesh, mounted a physical assault on civic officials on the same day. Officers were carrying out an anti-encroachment drive to which Akash can be seen responding by slapping, verbally abusing and thrashing the officials with a cricket bat. BJP workers joined the leader in the beatdown, with the police on standby not attempting to stop the assault.
Republic TV attempted to get a reaction from senior leader Kailash Vijayavargiya regarding the arrest of his son. On asking him about the incident leading to the arrest of Akash Vijayavargiya, he said, "I do not have any knowledge of this incident. I have no comment to make on this issue." He maintained the same response despite repeated attempts to get a reaction from him.
Following the goondaism that was witnessed on the streets of Indore, Republic confronted Akash Vijayvargiya over his brazen attack. In retaliation to which, the BJP MLA blatantly stated that 'he will not back off' and that he is a 'voted MLA and will do anything'
He said, "Indore Municipal Corporation is behaving like gundas, they are in tie-up with Congress leaders. I am a leader chosen by the people. I will not back off from the attack. I have been voted by the people to serve them. I will do whatever it takes even if it means lifting a bat and stopping officials. I stand by my actions."
Further, Akash Vijayavargiya had gone on to say that women in the area, where the anti-encroachment drive was taking place were, dragged out of their houses by their feet and that there were no women police present at the scene. He claimed that when he reached the scene, people got angry and started chasing the officials. He also said that he was going to file an FIR on the officials.
He went on to say, "This is just the beginning, we will end this corruption & goondaism. 'Aavedan, nivedan aur fir dana dan' this is our line of action. "
As per visuals, a large crowd of presumably Akash Vijayvargiya's supporters was seen blocking police's path, hindering Akash's arrests. Madhya Pradesh has recently been in the news due to BJP chief Shivraj Singh Chauhan who has been protesting against the present Kamal Nath government for failing to keep up its promises.
