BJP party president Amit Shah was at Prayagraj on Wednesday where he took a holy dip at the Kumbh Mela. He was joined by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath who took the holy dip for a second time this Kumbh.
Following the holy dip he also performed aarti at the Kumbh:
And after that, he had lunch with a number of seers, as well as U.P CM Yogi Adityanath and Baba Ramdev.
Shah's visit to the Kumbh Mela assumes symbolic and political significance given the importance of the religious gathering, the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, and the ongoing effort by groups to build a Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
The BJP chief has been insistent that his party and the Narendra Modi government are resolved to building a Ram Mandir at the Ram Janmabhoomi site, though he has also been clear that the Supreme Court will have to give a verdict on the ongoing title suit before the government acts. Meanwhile, he has demanded that other parties, namely the Congress, make clear their stand on the matter.
