WATCH: "During Congress Regimes, Every Defence Deal Had A Middleman," Says Prakash Javdekar Accusing The 'first Family' Over The AgustaWestland Case

Speaking over the on-going AgustaWestland fiasco, Union Minister Prakash Javdekar taking cognisance of the issue, noted how there were 'middlemen' in every defence deal during the UPA era and in the AgustaWestland case.

Lauding Republic TV's exposé, Javdekar stated that he had written a letter to the then Defence Minister, AK Anthony against the report he had filed.

He said, "This is a very crucial expose done by Republic and the manner in which the testimony has come and supplementary chargesheet is filed, I have faith that the court will take rational decision because this is clear that during AgustaWestland and during the time of Congress, every defence deals had a middleman and I wrote a letter to Anthony at that time, I wrote the letter against the report he had filed and there was corruption in the AugustaWestland case, that is clear."

The Union Minister further called the Congress party the 'first family of corruption', reiterating the 'first family' reference made by Congress leader PC Chacko, who called the Gandhi family the 'first family of India' further opined that the country is obliged to them.

"And the 'first family' because Chacko said the 'first family' so the first family of corruption, this has come forward. This will be very interesting. I believe in the court that the accused will be put to justice," he added. 

After the extensive reportage by Republic TV over the Enforcement Directorate chargesheet in the AgustaWestland case that divulged consequential details, the middleman, Christian Michel has now moved the Patiala High Court. 

As per the ED chargesheet, a copy of which is available with Republic TV – ED concludes that Christian Michel acknowledges knowing 'Mrs. Gandhi'. Michel further reveals that he was in touch with 'Mrs Gandhi' and knew her since 1986-87.

Earlier, the investigating agencies had recovered hand-written diary notings detailing the alleged kickbacks paid for the 12 AW-101 AgustaWestland deal. These noting mentioned ‘FAM’, ‘AP’ among others – answers to which were unknown so far. However, as per ED conclusion, Christian Michel has revealed that 'AP’ stands for Ahmed Patel and 'FAM’ was the abbreviation for ‘Family'.  

The 52 page chargesheet  mentions meetings with 'the Italian lady's son' who 'will be the next Prime Minister'. Reference to 'Son's power growing in the party and mother unaware of full facts' have been made as part of the dispatch published by the Enforcement Directorate.
