Just a day after it emerged that an innocent man may have been subjected to horrific torture at the hands of the Gurugram police in an effort to force him to confess to Pradyuman Thakur's murder, the chief minister of Haryana has displayed a shocking arrogance and high-handedness regarding the matter.
Following bus conductor Ashok's family saying that they would be filing a Human Rights case against the Gurugram Police, Republic TV asked Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for a comment on the matter.
However, not only does the Khattar brush the question aside with a wave of his hand, but he's also heard saying 'Let him do'. The callous remark, reckless and high-handed in itself, also adequately encapsulates the uphill battle faced by Ashok Kumar, who has been at the mercy of the giant state machinery for two months.
