Hema Malini participates in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on Parliament premises alongside the Speaker, Union Ministers, and MPs.

Actress turned Politician Hema Malini joined Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Union Ministers and the Members of Parliament in the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' in Parliament premises on Saturday. In the visuals coming in from the location, the former Bollywood actress can be seen picking up the broom and participating in the cleanliness drive alongside Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of State (Finance) Anurag Thakur, and other BJP leaders including Col.Rajyavardhan Rathore, and Hansraj Hans.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has instructed all the BJP MPs to carry out 'padayatra' in every Lok Sabha constituency between October 2 and October 31, which mark the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and former Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel respectively.

Talking to the media on the sidelines of the event, Hema Malini who is serving as the current Mathura MP reportedly said that she will carry out the Abhiyan in her constituency as well. 

"It is highly appreciable that the Speaker of the House took initiative to carry out 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, in Parliament premises. I will go back to Mathura next week and carry out this Abhiyan there as well," ANI quoted her as saying.  

Bollywood's 'Dream Girl' and BJP lawmaker Hema Malini who made Mathura in Uttar Pradesh a headline constituency over the last few years, won the seat for the second consecutive time reprising her position in the Lok Sabha 2019 general elections. She stormed to victory with 330743 votes beating Rashtriya Lok Dal candidate Kunwar Narendra Singh who bagged 293471 votes.

Meanwhile, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi informed the media on Tuesday that PM Modi has asked the BJP MPs to embark on 'padayatra' for 150 kms between October 2 and October 31. He said that 10 groups will be made in every constituency in which the MP and other BJP leaders will carry out the padayatra for 15 kms each every day till October 31. 

"In every constituency, a team will be formed which will carry out 'padayatra' every day covering every booth. Spreading awareness about Mahatma Gandhi's role in the freedom movement, planting more trees, all these instructions have been given by the PM Modi. These yatras will focus on revival of villages and making them self-reliant, plantation drive and zero budget farming. A committee will be formed to chalk out the plan for the same," said Joshi addressing the media.
