In a stunning turn of events, fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya was spotted outside The Oval in London on Sunday afternoon where India is playing its second World Cup against Australia.

Arriving at the venue, Vijay Mallya was questioned by the reporters about his preparations for the next hearing scheduled in July in the extradition case for defrauding the Indian banks of Rs 9,000 crores. Responding to the questions, Mallya said that preparations are underway and he has come to watch the game.

"I am here to watch the game," fugitive economic offender Vijay Mallya said.

Furthermore, on being questioned on which team he is supporting in the game, the fugitive said "India".

Notably, this is not the first time Vijay Mallya has been spotted at a cricket match.

In a big win for India, the UK home office and the Westminster Court has last year ordered the extradition of embattled Liquor Baron Vijay Mallya to India over money-laundering and fraud in his home country. He is accused of causing loses of up to Rs 9,000 to Indian banks.

Furthermore, he was branded as the first fugitive economic offender by a Special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in Mumbai earlier this year, after an appeal by the Enforcement Directorate. He is set to present his arguments in the UK High Court on his plea challenging his extradition order in July.

Meanwhile, Team India won the toss in the match against Australia on Sunday and chose to bat first at the Oval stadium in London.
