After winning Jokihat bypoll, Republic TV spoke to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav who spoke about a slew of issues including bypoll win, Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, Nitish Kumar among others.

When Tejashwi was asked whether he considers Rahul Gandhi as the next Prime Minister, he said:

“Rahul Gandhi ji is capable, Chandrababu Naidu ji  is also capable, Mamata Banerjee ji is also capable, Mayawati ji is also capable. Every senior leader is capable and better than PM Modi.

When he was asked whether he is on board with the Rahul Gandhi, the RJD leader tried to evade the question and gave a vague reply saying, “I am in touch with every leader. I am with the Congress party and all the Opposition parties because BJP is ruining our country. To save our country I will help any party to defeat BJP.”

He, however, also made it clear that he is not in the Prime Ministerial race.

“I am not in the race. I am not here just for any post,” said Tejashwi Yadav.

Speaking over the Jokihat win, Tejashwi Yadav said:

“These seats were not traditional seats of RJD. This is win of Laluwad. This is a clear message to Nitish Kumar that you are not a Chief Minister, but you are a cheat minister.”

“People of Bihar don’t trust Nitish Kumar as he doesn’t have any ideologies and our doors are closed for him,” he added.

Earlier in the day, Tejashwi Yadav attacked Bihar CM Nitish Kumar after Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate Shahnawaz Alam won the Jokihat seat by 41, 224 votes. The Jokihat seat was ruled by the JD(U) since 2005 as it had won the seat four times. RJD’s win has ended JD(U)’s continuous winning streak.

“It’s a win of Laluism over Opportunism. Lalu is not just an idea, he is a science, which Nitish Kumar couldn’t understand. It is a win of people’s mandate over money power. He gave ticket to a criminal. And, the people taught him a lesson for that,” said the RJD leader.
