Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Ananth Kumar Hegde had an eccentric solution to keep "Hindu girls safe"
During his address at the Karnataka's Kodagu the Union Minister stated that "irrespective of caste" if a hand touched a Hindu girl, that hand must be chopped off.
He said, "We have to rethink about priorities of our society. We should not think of caste. If a Hindu girl is touched by a hand, then that hand should not exist."
While Hegde was at it, he had an outlandish opinion of the history of Taj Mahal, which according to him was a 'Shiva temple' and that it was not constructed by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan but in fact was 'bought' from King Jayasimha.
He said, "Shah Jahan in his autobiography has said that he bought this palace from King Jayasimha. It's a Shiv Mandir built by King Paramatheertha, Tejo Mahalaya. Tejo Mahalaya became the Taj Mahal,"
The Union Minister added, "Taj Mahal is not built by Muslims."
"If we keep sleeping, most of our houses will be called Masjid. In future, God Ram will be called Jahanpanah and Sita will become Bibi," added Union Minister Hedge.
Hegde has instigated several controversies for making such bizarre statements in the past. On January 2, he had said that the Kerala government's handling of the Sabarimala issue was "daylight rape" of Hindus. The Union Minister has compared Dalit protestors with dogs, said that Islam must be eliminated to bring peace, called the Church a 'conversion machine' and that the Consitution must be changed.
