WATCH: Indian Army's Chinar Corps rescues car stuck amid torrent in Baramulla

In yet another display of our forces going beyond the call of duty to assist each and every citizen of the country no matter the odds or the conditions, the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army on Wednesday rescued two people in a car from overflowing Firozpur River. Chinar Corps rescued Khursheed Bhat and his brother from a car which had become immobile and was about to drown in an overflowing Firozpur Nala near Pattan in Baramulla, J&K.

In the visuals, 3 officials from the Indian Army can be seen helping the people in the car by trying to push and pull the car so that the water doesn't enter it. They can be seen calming the people trapped inside the car. The Chinar Corps waded through waist-deep water and rescued Khursheed Bhat and his brother. The car was being dragged by the force of the water from NH1 towards the nala.

In the video, the man can be seen saying: 

"This area has been the source of work and food for us. We can see this day only because of your support. When you all are in the border then only our children in Kashmir is safe."

("Humara anna data yehi area hai. Pehle allah hai aur fir ye area. Aaplogo k sahyog aur aap logo ke karan, unhi k vajah se aaj ye din dekh paa rahe hain. Aap log jab border pe action lete hain, toh humare bachhe Kashmir mein mahfooz rehte hain.")

Chinar Corps is an infantry field formation of the Indian Army which is presently located in Srinagar and responsible for military operations in the Kashmir Valley. It has participated in all military conflicts with Pakistan and China till date. It was first raised in 1916 as part of the British Indian Army during the First World War for operations in Egypt and France. Disbanded in 1918, it was reraised in 1942 for combat operations in Burma during World War II, and after the war, it served in Java and Sumatra. Disbanded in Karachi in 1947 after repatriation, it was re-raised after India gained independence, as part of the Indian Army, in 1948 as HQ Jammu & Kashmir Force.
