Union Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal on Sunday spoke about the recently inaugurated executive waiting lounges at railway stations.

In a tweet, Goyal asked people to experience the state-of-the-art executive lounges at railway stations - a new addition to the railway amenities. These include state-of-art facilities like recliner seats and couches, dining halls and many other features which were opened up for people by the Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation Ltd (IRCTC). These add-ons at railway station appear to be nothing short of airport-like facilities. Here's the video which shows new lounges by the railways:

The lounges have been made so that people now do not have to brave the elements while waiting for their trains. In addition, these lounges are spacious enough so that passengers can keep their luggage, and benefit from easy access to the station premises and platform. So far, Ahmedabad, Tirupati and Jaipur are the stations where these executive lounges have been piloted.

In addition, Goyal also showcased the systematic and timely maintenance that has been initiated at station premises regularly in a bid to maintain cleanliness. The Railway Minister also tweeted a video of staff cleaning the station premises at Chandigarh Railway station and And Vihar Station in Delhi:

Earlier on July 12, Goyal said that there was "no question" of privatisation of the railways, but said the ministry would invite investments for new lines and projects in national interest.

"There is no question of privatisation of railways. Railways cannot be privatised. However, if we have to increase the facilities in railways then obviously we need investments for it. We have taken a decision to encourage public private partnerships and we will also corporatise some units," the minister said.
