Karnataka Minister Janardhan Reddy, who was named by Bengaluru’s CCB (City Crime Branch) in the illegal Ponzi Scam link, has surrendered after being missing for the past four days. Republic TV has accessed a video in which Janaradhan Reddy claimed innocence and stated that 'baseless allegations have been made' against him.
"They have created an atmosphere of fear near my house in Bengaluru. In the last 15-20 days, and after that today suddenly, from CCB side. Media reports suggest wrong information was passed on that Reddy is untraceable and this attempt was made 15 days back. I consulted my lawyer Chandrashekhar and said that we must visit the CCB office. As many wrong things are being said. He told me that we have not received any notice, my name is not even in the FIR then on what grounds should we go there voluntarily? My lawyer Chandrashekhar said that only when we get a notice will we go there. I am in Bengaluru city. There is no need to go out of this big city. There is an assumption that police officials are prejudiced, they are doing this with the wrong intention. I am in Bengaluru city, I am following what my lawyers are saying. We got the notice yesterday, they asked us to come tomorrow on Sunday, but I am going today itself and will be present there".
"I have done no wrong, for no reason, there is no base, in front of the world, let the court case be on one side, today the ccb officials, there is not one entry, they should show media even if there is a single entry. Why did they present this is front of the media? It is painful, it is a part of a political conspiracy, but I still have faith that the due procedure will be followed. I am proud of the police department. I am someone who was born and raised in the police quarters. In case that has legal implications, there is no question of fear, as I have done no wrong", he added.
Earlier on Thursday, Republic TV had accessed an exclusive video showing the interrogation being carried by CCB ACP Venkatesh Prasanna in the hotel room where the alleged deal was made. Fareed Ahmed, the accused businessman who started Ambidant Marketing private limited in Bengaluru, and Gali Janardhan Reddy, had held a meeting at the hotel in which the former BJP leader allegedly demanded 18 crore rupees from Fareed to quash a case pending against him before the ED, using his sources.
In the video accessed by Republic TV, the investigation team headed by ACP Venkatesh Prasanna is seen with Ponzi scam accused Fareed, who is guiding them towards the room where the deal took place. On being questioned by the officer about the names of the members present during that meeting, accused Fareed stated that Brijesh Reddy (a realtor), Gali Janardhan Reddy, Ali Khan (Gali Janardhan Reddy’s close aide) and Faisal were present during the meeting along with him.
ACP Prasanna: Who were the people you met?
Fareed: Faisal, Brijesh Reddy, Janardhan Reddy and Ali Khan were there…
Meanwhile, Republic TV has also accessed visuals that raise the question of how the scam could take place, given that senior politicians had been photographed with the accused. One such photograph of the accused in the scam also features top political leaders including Karnataka Congress president Dinesh Gundu Rao and former state Home Minister and Congress leader Ramalinga Reddy.
Congress leader Ramalinga Reddy has posted a tweet stating that he is not connected with the accused and the case as he attended the event as a minister only:
“I do not have any relationship with Ambidant. That organization invited me to the mobile release program. I just attended the event as a minister. Many people are invited to my program because of being a minister,” reads the tweet that was posted in Kannada on November 8.
Additionally, in yet another exclusive video accessed by Republic TV from the residence of Gali Janardhan Reddy in Molakalmuru in Karnataka’s Chitradurga district where CCB was carrying raid in the lookout for details on the whereabouts of the absconded Reddy, BJP MLA Sriramulu, who is apparently a close aide to Janardhan Reddy, was seen strolling inside the house, as he was talking over the phone -- a clear breach of protocol. This has come to light after BJP's BS Yeddyurappa on November 7 had said that the party has no role to play in the matter and that the law would take its own course in the case.
While Gali Janardhan Reddy has been absconding since Wednesday, the Bengaluru police has formed four special teams to nab him. His phone was tracked recently to be in Andhra Pradesh and police is conducting raids in his premises. Meanwhile, the police have already interrogated two men in the Ponzi scam - Fareed and Ballari Ramesh. Speaking to Republic TV on November 7, Bengaluru Police Commissioner Suneel Kumar said that lawful action will be taken against all those involved in the case. The ponzi scam is estimated to be around Rs 500 crore rupees.
