In yet another controversy for Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, a video has come into the light in which the JD(S) leader can be heard instructing someone on the other side of the phone to "mercilessly" kill the assailants of his party leader Prakash in a "shootout".
In the video posted by news agency ANI, HD Kumaraswamy can be seen surrounded with other party leaders and talking over the phone. He was reported to be saying(seemingly to the police), "He was a good man. I'm hurt because he has been murdered. There were three murders that took place in the past. I'm disappointed. Who are your inspectors? Where was the circle inspector? He was murdered in the middle of a road. I don't know how your handling it. It is your duty. I'm very disappointed. He was a very good man. If needed shoot him. Don't spare such criminals. I don't care about such people. Kill them (assailants) mercilessly in a shootout, no problem".

However, later reacting to the video, Mr Kumaraswamy denied giving the order to 'kill the assailants mercilessly', saying that it was an 'emotional' outburst. He also revealed that the assailants came out on bail only two days before they killed the JD(S) leader:
As per reports, Janata Dal (S) leader Prakash was killed by a gang of unidentified men in broad daylight on Monday evening at the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway.
"Prakash, 50, was attacked by four men with a machete on Monday evening due to suspected personal rivalries. He succumbed to his injuries," Maddur police station sub-inspector Kumara had said, as per reports.
Moments after the video triggered huge controversy, several BJP leaders launched a scathing attack on the Karnataka Chief Minister for his statements in the video.
Former Karnataka CM and senior BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa hit out at Kumaraswamy stating that he made an 'irresponsible statement' and nobody will excuse him for this:
"Never expected being the CM of Karnataka if he speaks like that whatever the law and order situation is. It's a very irresponsible statement and he repeatedly said like this on several occasion. Nobody will excuse him," said Yeddyurappa speaking to reporters.
Speaking in the matter, senior BJP leader and former Karnataka CM Jagadish Shettar also condemned saying that Kumaraswamy should act as Chief Minister and not an individual party leader.
"There must be emotional feeling after that killing(assassination of JD Secular worker Prakash). We condemn that accident. But if as a CM he will use these statement, then it is not in the spirit of a democratic system. He cannot order a shootout. He should act as a CM, not as an individual party leader."
Adding to Yeddyurappa's attack, BJP leader Amit Malviya also lashed out at the Karnataka CM for his statements on video, calling him the CM of a 'secular coalition':
