With the entire nation in the state of mourning on Friday following the martyrdom of 40 civilians owing to the terror attack in Pulwama, Lakhbeer Singh who is the brother of Martyr Maninder Singh spoke to Republic TV.
Lakhbeer Singh is also in the CRPF. Speaking like a true braveheart, he spoke highly of how his brother was an inspiration and gave a message to the nation to stay united in times of tragedy.
"My brother was an inspiration for me, he helped me join the CRPF, he was like father, friend a brother to me. He used to wake me early in the morning so as I can pass my physical examination. The loss is huge but it is also a proud moment that my brother's body has come home wrapped in tricolor. The enemy has proved their cowardice through this attack. The enemy will never succeed in its nefarious designs if we as a nation stay united," he said.
On Friday, the Prime Minister, other union ministers, the Chiefs of the Forces, Delhi CM Kejriwal and Congress president Rahul Gandhi were present at Palam airport in New Delhi as the mortal remains arrived from J&K's Budgam.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who was present at the wreath-laying ceremony in Budgam and had helped carry the mortal remains to the IAF transport aircraft, is chairing an all-party meeting in Parliament over the attack.
40 CRPF Jawans were martyred on Thursday as the convoy they were travelling in, on the Jammu-Srinagar highway, was attacked by a suicide bomber in an explosives-laden car. It was the worst terror attack on the forces in many decades, drawing condemnation from across the world.
