Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday was questioned about Robert Vadra by a student while he was interacting with the students in Chennai.
On being asked about Robert Vadra, the Congress chief swiftly stumped the question by asking 'What about him?', later diverted the topic by raking up the Rafale deal issue while targeting PM Modi. In his statement, he also professed that the law should apply to everyone and the government has the right to investigate, adding there's no problem.
"What about him? What about him? The government has every right and should investigate every single person and the law should apply to everybody, no problem. However, the law must not apply to selectively. The Prime Minister of the country himself has his name in government documents which are saying that he is directly responsible for negotiating parallely with Dassault company on Rafale deal," Rahul Gandhi said while answering to the question.
Meanwhile, an OpIndia report has drawn a link between Congress president Rahul Gandhi and an arms dealer - Sanjay Bhandari - who is under the scanner over UPA era deals. Sanjay Bhandari - an aide of Robert Vadra - has been under the scanner of the I-T department and the ED for allegedly receiving kickbacks from petroleum and defence deals under the UPA government.
The report discloses a possible connection between Sanjay Bhandari and the Congress president, citing land purchase agreements that bear Rahul Gandhi's name. The documents accessed OpIndia are from an ED search conducted on one H L Pahwa on May 3, 2017, and May 4, 2017. The documents show that the land dealings are between Rahul Gandhi and HL Pahwa. Pahwa is alleged to be on the payroll of CC Thampi, who is connected to both Sanjay Bhandari and Robert Vadra. It also claims that Sanjay Bhandari had also sought a Rafale offset contract.
