Following the astonishing statement by Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav, declaring that he wants "Modi to return as the Prime Minister", the first response from the party, however, has differed in opinion claiming that Akhilesh Yadav is the decision-maker of the party and was rather stumped to believe the words uttered by the party's founder in Lok Sabha.
Responding to the statement, SP leader Abu Azmi ascertained that the party president and son of Mulayam Singh Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav has formed an alliance with BSP and left two seats for UPA chief Sonia Gandhi and Congress president in Uttar Pradesh with the sole motive of ousting BJP from power.
When questioned if the party wants to support Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister, he responded saying, "not at all", thus negating the words of Netaji.
Azmi said, "Our president is Akhilesh Yadav ji and he has joined hands with BSP to defeat BJP, anyhow. That is not true, let him say, I don't believe that. Mulayam Singh Yadav said a small thing, but you don't see that his son who is the party president has left one seat for Sonia Gandhi and one for Rahul Gandhi to defeat BJP in Uttar Pradesh."
"I don't think Mulayam Singh ji said that, Akhilesh Yadav is the president and whatever he will decide will be done. He is forming alliances, then how can something else be? The decision making power is completely in the hands of Akhilesh ji," he added.
Azmi went on to say that Netaji was probably "joking" and that he concurs with SP's ideology of removing the Narendra Modi led government from power.
He said, "Netaji has often said that Narendra Modiji has lied and not fulfilled his promises. Netaji is our leader, however, to remove BJP from power is the party's prime agenda, who are creating fights between brothers in the name of religion."
"Mulayam Singh has never said anything wrong, if this is the case, he must have joked," he added.
While addressing the members of Parliament, standing right next to UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Mulayam Singh Yadav's words were, "I hope Modi becomes PM again."
Mulayam Singh also laid heaps of praises on PM Modi in the Parliament.
He said, "It's our wish that all (unclear) this is my heart felt wish. (inaudible) it's very difficult to manage the (unclear). The chair you are sitting on...You have to please every minister in this Parliament. It's very difficult to please and not everyone can be pleased. When he talks, I would only like to say, you have managed the Parliament really well. I want to congratulate the Prime Minister. Prime Minister, you have worked for everyone. This is absolutely correct, whenever I said anything opposite, you corrected it. I really appreciate and respect you for considering everyone. (inaudible) it's really difficult to please everyone. But still nobody speaks against you or make any comment against you for this I would like to congratulate you. And it is my wish along with the parliament that you should win again. This is my wish. We want you to become the prime minister once again."
