Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Saturday visited his parliamentary constituency Kota in Rajasthan where he was greeted with a warm welcome from a huge gathering of people.
A video has emerged on Monday from his visit to Kota which shows the stage, where Om Birla can be seen standing along with his supporters, falling in front of the huge gathering. Ahead of the incident, loud cheers and Dhol sounds can be heard in the video welcoming Om Birla in his constituency.
The incident reportedly took place on Saturday in the Rampura district when Om Birla visited Kota for the 'Thank You' rally after his Lok Sabha elections victory.
As per reports, Om Birla survived the incident. He attended the Lok Sabha debates in the Parliament on Monday.
Birla defeated Congress' Ramnarain Meena by over 2.5 lakh votes from Rajasthan's Kota in the recently-concluded 2019 General Elections on May 23. The 57-year-old leader has served as the Rajasthan MLA thrice and MP twice.
Following his Kota visit, Om Birla said that he was very delighted to see such a warm reception from the people of his constituency. During his visit, he attended a programme organised by the 15th Rajasthan Legislative Assembly. CP Joshi, Speaker of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly shared pictures welcoming him to the event.
Newly appointed Speaker of the 17th Lok Sabha, Om Birla replaced former Speaker of the 16th Lok Sabha Sumitra Mahajan, who did not contest the 2019 Lok Sabha.
