India's cricketing superstar Sachin Tendulkar graced the 'Vayu Shakti 2019' in Pokhran, Rajasthan, an event in which the country's Air Force displayed its strength and fire power.
Apart from the former cricketing legend, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Bipin Rawat, Indian Air Force (IAF) chief Marshal B.S. Dhanoa and Defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
During the event, Tendulkar could be seen sitting alongside Army chief Bipin Rawat, as the two looked on the proceedings which began at around 5:30 in the evening.
Tendulkar had earlier expressed his delight on being invited for the occasion. On his official Twitter account, he was full of praise for the Indian Air Force and considered himself honored to be a part of the event.
"Proud feeling to witness the might of our Air Force. It is an honour to be present among the bravehearts who lay their lives on the line to defend India and protect us from our enemies! #VayuShakti2019," his message read.
In front of a packed crowd, the Air Force showd its capabilities through various aircrafts like Mirage-2000, Su-30 MKI, MiG 27, Juguar, Tejas, Hawk, MiG-21 Bison, Mi-17 V5, Mi-35 and ALH MKIV.
Prior to the exercise, a Full Dress Rehearsal (FDR) was conducted on Thursday in firing Range in the presence of Air Marshal Anil Khosla, Vice Chief of the Air Staff.
During the rehearsal, the IAF engaged numerous simulated enemy targets with various types of air-to-ground weaponry including guided and unguided bombs, rockets and guns.
Aerial targets were also intercepted using air-to-air as well as surface-to-air missiles. The entire demonstration lasted two hours
