One person died and 32 others were injured when a massive grenade blast rocked Jammu bus station at about 12 noon on Thursday. People who were injured in the blast were shifted to the Government Medical College (GMC) hospital. Speaking to Republic TV about the "inhuman incident", MoS PMO Dr Jitendra Singh said:
"There is no doubt that it is a painful and inhuman incident. Spooked by the action of Modi government these terrorists are indulging in these grisly activities. First, they attacked the CRPF soldiers in Pulwama and now they are finding soft targets, civilians. The government will conduct an enquiry but at the same time, I would like to request the citizens to be vigilant and have patience".
Furthermore, MoS PMO adviced the people to "maintain the highest degree of alertness" keeping in mind the current scenario in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
"The citizens will have to overcome this situation by using these two key factors: Vigilance and Patience. The terrorists have no rules and they search for soft targets, therefore, we all should maintain the highest degree of alertness and should also make our friends and family be aware of the surrounding".
What steps will the government take against the terrorist activities, asked Republic TV. To which he replied:
"I am not in the position to reveal the A to Z of actions that the government will take. Media is made aware of the situation from time to time. But I can tell you that the enquiry of the government had broken the terrorists, therefore, they are searching for soft targets. Under the supervision of Shri Narendra Modi Ji, a proper enquiry is taking place against the terrorists".
Hitting at the people who sympathise with terrorists and encourage terror activities, Dr Singh said:
"Jamaat-e-Islami has been banned. All the names that you have taken... I have no hesitation to say that they have encouraged terrorism. For the past 20-25 years, all these people have been a part of dynasty politics. There was a vacuum. If the terrorism ends then their politics will also end. Therefore, they are apologetic to terrorists and encourage it".
Meanwhile, IGP Jammu Manish Kumar Sinha said that the police are following leads for further investigation into the blast. Early visuals from the blast site also showed damaged vehicles. The area was cordoned off, and assessment is currently underway.
