WATCH | This Twitter user claims to have ‘debunked’ the ‘Congress hoax’ with her Iphone after Party writes to MHA over ‘sniper threat’ to Rahul Gandhi

The Congress party on Wednesday wrote to the Ministry of Home Affairs citing a 'sniper threat' to party president Rahul Gandhi stating that a green laser light was seen being pointed at him while he was addressing media on Wednesday. However, the MHA spokesperson cleared the air on the alleged threat, confirming that the "green light" on his face was found to be that of the mobile phone used by the AICC photographer.

BJP Youth wing leader Amrita Bhinder took to Twitter and shared a video, "debunking" the "Congress hoax" with her iPhone. In the tweet, she shared a video where she can be seen using a green light from her phone on a window. 

In the caption, she wrote, "Congress hoax stands debunked just with my own iphone ? Lol #LaserDeathThreat ? lol too funny":

Senior Congress party leaders Ahmed Patel and Randeep Singh Surjewala wrote to the Home Ministry on April 10 stating that a 'sniper laser' was seen being pointed at Congress president Rahul Gandhi as many as "seven times" during his media interaction in Uttar Pradesh's Amethi. Claiming that Rahul Gandhi's life is at risk by a 'possible assassin', the party also demanded the ministry to take note of the security threat on their party president's life. 

Congress attached the video of the incident with the letter to the ministry. The green laser light can also be seen pointed at Rahul Gandhi multiple times in a video tweeted by the party:

On Thursday, MHA spokesperson the Home Ministry released a statement confirming that it has not received any letter regarding the breach in security of the Congress party president. After the ministry came across reports of the "sniper threat" to Rahul Gandhi's life, it asked the Director (SPG) to verify the factual position in the matter. MHA spokesperson also confirmed that the "green light" shown in the video was found to be that of the mobile phone used by the AICC photographer
