WATCH | Two Guinness World Records Created During 62nd Edition Of AICOG

The 62nd edition of All India Congress of Obstetrics and Gynaecology was held in Bengaluru from 8th January to 12th January 2019.

The 62nd edition of All India Congress of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (AICOG) was held from 8th January to 12th January 2019 at Gayatri Vihar, Palace Grounds in Bengaluru. This year the emphasis was on women's health. 

Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, former Miss World Diana Hayden were among the well-known personalities who attended the event.

Diana Hayden spoke to the media saying that she and her family had flown from the US just for the event. The former Miss World said that her message for women was in line with the message of the event, which was 'We For She'. She said that she wanted to tell women to truly believe in themselves, to be safe, and ensure that they are financially secure and be confident.

With the tagline of the AICOG being Women's Health is Nation's Wealth, this year's edition saw several events driving home this message.

Two Guinness world records were created during the event. The first record which was made during the event was the longest line of sanitary pads to be ever created in the world. At least 10,105 sanitary pads measuring about 1,078 meters were lined up for the record. They were lined around a formation of sanitary napkins representing the uterus.

The second record which was created was the longest line of calcium pills in the world.

The conference witnessed a footfall of around 13,000 doctors and participants. 

Around 12,500 gynaecologists from across the world and India took part in the five day conclave.

Top gynaecologists interacted with each other about the topic and shared their ideas. 

Workshops were held for all specialties and doctors were trained on their respective subjects. Also, there were several pharmaceutical stalls that displayed various surgical instruments at the venue. 

Apart from these, cultural events were also held during the five days.  

The 62nd AICOG received overwhelming support and participation this year. The AICOG also announced its next edition for 2020 which will be held in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
