Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Indian diaspora at Hyogo Prefecture Guest House in Kobe, Japan. After PM Modi ended his speech highlighting on a range of things including India-Japan relations and the role played by great men in the country to enhance the bond between two nations, the Indian community chanted "Vande Mataram".
The video of the crowd shouting Vande Mataram and Jai Shri Ram has gone viral.
As the house was full to hear Prime Minister Modi's address, the ministry of external affairs shared a picture of the enthusiatic crowd.
Speaking on the event, Prime Minister said:
"About two decades ago, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and PM Yoshiro Moriji jointly made our relationship a global partnership. After becoming PM in 2014, I had the opportunity to strengthen this friendship with my friend PM Shinzo Abe. You have also played part in India's festival of democracy, for that, I want to thank you. Swami Vivekananda, Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, Mahatma Gandhi, Neta ji Subhash Chandra Bose, Justice Radhabinod Pal, many Indians strengthened India's relationship with Japan."
Earlier Prime Minister held a bilateral meeting with Japan. As the meeting commenced between the two nations, Prime Minister Modi said:
"The way in which Japan welcomed my delegation and me, I am grateful. The way in which you have fulfilled your role as the chairman of the G 20 summit, I congratulate you on that. This is the new Reiwa era in Japan and I extend my best wishes to the country and I am glad that the President of India will attend the ceremony. Thank you once again for the congratulations, you were the first friend of India who congratulated me, on phone. I also express my gratitude for the warm welcome you and Japan Government have accorded to us."
As many as 10 bilateral meetings have been scheduled on the sidelines of the two-day G20 Summit. He will be holding meetings with France, Japan, Indonesia, US, and Turkey, among other countries. India, Russia, and China are also set to hold a trilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G-20 Summit. During the two-day summit, there will also be a meeting with leaders of Brazil, Russia, India, China & South Africa (BRICS) and Russia-India-China (RIC).
