As Republic media accessed videos of the protest that took place in Ranchi against the lynching of 22-year-old Tabrez Ansari, it was revealed that the protestors turned into a mob themselves and attacked a bus carrying 50 students. The protestors pelted stones on the bus and attempted to flame the vehicle. Moreover, a Congress spokesperson named Shamsher Alam was present on the stage at the protest venue, after which the protestors created ruckus and instigated violence.

Here's what Republic's Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami had to say on the matter:

"#LynchistanLie is my first debate tonight. And I know that you know and you believe and yet you have to suffer the lie of Lynchistan, you have to suffer the lie of your own country being called Lynchistan and that is why I want you to use the hashtag #LynchistanLie and expose the pseudos. I know that you know, that you experience and that you believe, we all believe that Pakistan has increased spending on bribes to foreign politicians who write sponsored letters calling India lynchistan and that is why I want you to use the hashtag #LynchistanLie tonight. I want you to send them a message. And I know that you are angry because so am I and that you feel pained that our great country is being called the mob capital of the world, thanks to the Shabana Amzis, thanks to the Javed Akhtars, thanks to all these people like Arundhati Roys who use the country night after night. But we know we are not the mob capital of the world. That our great country is being called the intolerance capital of the world which it will never be, and that our warm welcoming and open society is being abused in New York, as close-minded and hateful-- which it never has been and Trump's America should just shut up talking about us and that is why I want you to use the hashtag #LynchistanLie tonight and I invite the army of liars on the other side tonight - the liars, the trolls, the pseudos, the hypocrites who call our great country lynchistan, my invitation and challenge to call me LIVE because my phonelines are open to them as well-- because THAT is how tolerant we are."

Ansari who was on the way home to Saraikela from Jamshedpur last Tuesday was allegedly attacked by a mob barely 5 km away from his home. As per sources, videos of him being tied to a pole and being beaten for hours for allegedly stealing a motorbike have been widely circulated. Sources also reported that the mob which attacked Ansari chanting 'Jai Shri Ram' and 'Jai Hanuman' had handed him over to the police after he lost consciousness.
