A ruckus was reported in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur, as BJP workers hurled abuses and heckled the police officers at an event right at the sight of Yogi Adityanath's deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma.

This appalling incident occurred during an event of deputy chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Dinesh Sharma at the Ramlila Maidan in Kanpur, when the BJP workers were stopped by the police officers from going close to the stage. 

That's when a violent mob of BJP supporters harassing the police officers and could be seen pushing, hurling abuses. 

This 'political gundagardi' unfolded while the deputy chief minister who maintained his silence and failed to douse the situation, but rather asked the crowd to chant 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' 

During this entire episode, the senior officers did not meddle, in contrast, asked the police officers to stay mum, moreover, no action was taken against this violent mob. 

On one hand, where chief minister Yogi Adityanath speaks of building 'anti-Romeo squad' for the purpose to maintain discipline, however under his nose, his own workers were seen going affray.

A similar incident was seen flaring up between supporters of Congress' Bijnor candidate Nasimuddin Siddiqui, however the reason for this clash was- biryani.

Officials say that that biryani was being served at an election meeting, without permission which prompted the authorities to lodge a police case, following which nine arrests were made.

The election meeting was organised at the residence of former MLA Maulana Jameel, who recently switched over to the Congress, after being a close-aide to BSP supremo Mayawati, at Tadheda village under Kakroli police station on Saturday.

Biryani was to be served for lunch after the meeting, but clashes erupted as those present there scrambled for the first serving, officials said.
