An exodus like situation has emerged in Gujarat with migrants from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh fleeing the state over fear of backlash following the rape of a 14-month-old toddler by a man from Bihar. The migrant workers belonging to these northern states are leaving the state in huge numbers after a social media hate campaign has been started against them, instigating some quarters in the state, who have in turn resorted to violence. “Gujarat mein Uttar Bhartiyo par ho rahe hamle ki main ninda karta hun. Apradhi ko kathor saza mile, iske liye pura desh us pidit parivar ke sath khada hai. Lekin ek apradhi ke karan hum poore desh ko galat nahin thehra sakte. Aaj Gujarat mein 48 IAS evam 32 32 IPS UP aur Bihar se hain. Hum Sab ek hain. Jai Hind (I condemn the attack on North Indians in Gujarat. The whole nation is standing with the kin of the victim to ensure that those responsible for the attack get punished. But we can’t blame the whole country for the wrongdoing of one individual. There are 48 IAS and 32 IPS officers in Gujarat from UP and Bihar. We are one. Jai Hind),” wrote Hardik Patel on Twitter.

Meanwhile, a day after it was alleged that Thakor Sena, headed by Congress MLA Alpesh Thakor, has been instigating the hate campaign against North Indians in Gujarat, the police confirmed that the man who was earlier seen threatening non-Gujaratis in a video.

The Police has confirmed that the man in the footage is an elected local Taluka Panchayat member of Congress named MV Thakore. The police officials have also arrested three other people who were seen in the video with Thakore as well, however, MV Thakore is absconding as of now.

The police have so far arrested over 300  people from various parts of Gujarat for allegedly attacking non-Gujaratis, especially those hailing from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, following the rape of a 14-month-old girl in Sabarkantha district, a senior officer said on Sunday.
