In a shocking incident on Sunday afternoon, three people have been killed and several have suffered injuries in a blast at Nirankari Bhawan in Amritsar's Rajasansi village. Moments after the incident, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, while speaking to Republic TV, gave further insights of the incident, confirming terror linkages to the attack in the Nirankari Bhawan.
"There was a congregation this morning in the Rajsansa village in Amritsar and somebody threw a grenade into it. Three people have died, one seriously injured and about 15-16 more have been injured. They are being treated at the hospital. The police is on high alert. We will get a full report in a short while. This is obviously a mischief of somebody and we will get to the bottom of it," said the Punjab CM.
On being questioned about prospects of terror links to the attack, Captian Amarinder Singh named ISI as a suspect of the incident:
"Absolutely, we are not going to leave it here. This is obviously the heavy work of some organization, like the ISI across the border. But who they are using and how they are doing it, all will be found out. This is a very unfortunate incident, but these guys will be taken down. We are going to be very harsh on them. We will get to the bottom of this. In future we will take care that all congregation are protected," Singh added.
Speaking on question of the lapse of security at the Nirankari Bhawan, he said:
"This is a Nirankari Satsang which takes place in every village. They were never the target. This is the first time they have targeted the people of Nirankari satsang. They targeted Nirankari Satsang people because they knew that they don't have any security. There objective is to spread terror in the area and nothing else. The organization that does it is ISI, nobody else does it. They operate from outside through the Sikhs for justice and other people like that. There could be a Khalistan or ISI link. We will get to the bottom of it. We were always on alert. We have so many incidents over the past years. All have been connected to the ISI. You will see this will also have connection the ISI."
Stating that he will not be able visit Amritsar on Sunday, he said that the DGP and the Home Secretary will visit the attack site and take cognizance of the matter.
Meanwhile, Captain Amarinder Singh has announced compensation of Rs 5 lakh to kin of each of the dead and free treatment to all the injured in the blast.
