"We will not forget, we will not forgive", the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has said in a tweet saluting the personnel from within its ranks who were martyred on Thursday in a dastardly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama.

Here is the tweet, promising that the heinous attack will be avenged:

The ghastly attack in which 40 jawans have been martyred took place earlier that afternoon, as a car packed with over a hundred kilos of explosive material targeted a 70-vehicle-strong CRPF convoy transporting over 2500 personnel towards Srinagar on the Jammu-Srinagar highway. The car-bomber devastated the CRPF vehicle it struck, resulting in the biggest terrorist attack on the forces in decades. The Pakistan-backed Jaish-e-Mohammad has taken responsibility for the attack.

The mortal remains of the martyred CRPF bravehearts are in Budgam at the time of publishing, and will be air-lifted to Srinagar. Home Minister Rajnath Singh is on his way to Budgam for the wreath-laying ceremony. The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) chaired by the Prime Minister met on Friday morning, post which union Minister Arun Jaitley informed that there was incontrovertible evidence of Pakistan's hand behind the attack, and consequently, Pakistan's Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status had been withdrawn, and that the MEA would take all possible steps to ensure that Pakistan would be diplomatically isolated on the global stage. The terrorist attack has drawn widespread condemnation from the international community, with the US telling Pakistan to stop harbouring terrorists on its soil and Russian President Vladimir Putin telling India his country was ready to step up cooperation on counter-terrorism. China's statement of condemnation, however, has been conspicuous by its absence.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured the country that the forces have been given a free hand following the attack, and he has also warned Pakistan that its nefarious designs will not succeed.
