The wedding invitation, that may be a sham, has gone viral on social media as they sought gifts for the newlyweds in the form of votes to BJP.

The Lok Sabha election fever has not only gripped the politicians but also couples who will be tying the knot in 2019. The wedding invitation, that may be a sham, has gone viral on social media as they sought gifts for the newlyweds in the form of votes to BJP. 

While one invite was for a wedding slated for Tuesday, 1 January, in Surat, the other one mentions it will be held on Sunday, 10 February, in Mangalore.

The images posted by Facebook user Arun Prasad, the parents of the groom are seen inviting guests to attend the wedding of their son, while also seeking votes for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha elections scheduled to take place this year.

The note at the bottom of both the card reads: “our gift is your vote for Modi in 2019 Lok Sabha elections”.

Earlier in June 2018, a wedding card invitation had gone viral on social media for allegedly campaigning for the 2019 elections with the message 'Vote for Congress' on it. The intention behind the wedding card was to send across the message to vote for Congress in 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Meanwhile, General elections in India are slated to be held between March and April this year to constitute the 17th Lok Sabha.
