Woman's family tortures man for eloping with her in Jammu and Kashmir

Two videos of a tribal man being tortured in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir have surfaced on Monday. The man in the video was being tormented by the relatives of the woman with whom he had eloped. Shoukat Ali, a resident of Manyari village in Kathua, reportedly went missing with the woman on August 16, three days after their wedding was solemnised at the Jammu and Kashmir High Court.

In the second video, the man is tied upside-down from a hanging log. Senior Superintendent of Police Shridhar Patil said cognizance of the videos has been taken and three special team is in search of the youth in order to track down the culprits.

"We have taken cognisance of the videos and set up three teams to recover the man and arrest those torturing him. The teams have fanned out and are searching in and outside the state," Patil said. 

The informed that the girl's family had lodged a complaint of kidnapping after which we initiated a search for the girl and handed her over to her family. Within no time another FIR was registered which stated that Ali was kidnapped by the girl's family members and was being held, hostage.

Earlier, a terrorist was caught on tape while he was roaming around in the streets of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday evening. Republic TV has accessed the CCTV footage in which the terrorist is seen walking near the Police Control room in the heart of the city. Even before the police could raise alarm, the terrorist managed to flee the spot. The police is on an over-drive to nab the terrorist. 

Prior to that, a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Naveed Jatt, who is also one of the accused in journalist Shujaat Bukhari's assassination, was caught on camera near Jammu-Srinagar highway. In a video accessed by Republic TV, Naveed Jatt was seen roaming around on the Highway with a motive to challenge security forces. The Security forces initiated a manhunt to nab Naveed Jatt. A high alert was issued in the state of Jammu and Kashmir ahead of Independence Day celebration.
