In a shocking incident developing from Visakhapatnam, YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) head Jagan Mohan Reddy suffered arm injury after he was attacked by a sharp object, which seemed like a knife, at the Vizag Airport.

It is reported that the man behind the attack is Srinivas, who is a staff with the airport canteen. After the incident, Jagan Mohan Reddy received first aid nearby, before flowing back to Hyderabad.

Soon after attacking him, the police caught hold of the assailant and he has been since then taken him into custody. The attacker Srinivas is a native of Amalapuram, who approached Jagan Mohan Reddy for a selfie and soon after that tried to slit the throat, but ended up slashing Jagan's shoulders with the knife which is usually used in cockfights.

YRSCP leader YV Subba Reddy termed the incident as a major security lapse while mentioning that the accused in this case worked at a restaurant belonging to TDP leader.

"It is 100% security lapse, and the government here are not providing any security to its opposition leader. Reason we cannot know unless we find who the person was. But how come he entered airport, because airport is...even a nailcutter," he said while speaking excluisively to Republic TV.

The ruling party, TDP, has rejected any claims of their involvement in this crime, while dismissing the comments made by YSRCP against them. Speaking on the allegations against his party, he said:

"That is totally baseless. The investigation is going on. Once the enquiry gets over, we will get to know who the person is and what actually happened. Police enquiry is going on. We cannot come upto any kind of conclusion. YSRCP will as usual try to take a political mileage on this. So once the police enquiry is over, we'll get to know the facts."

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi attempted to pin the blame on Aviation minister Ministry of Aviation for this incident. His message on Twitter read, "I strongly condemn the cowardly attack on @ysjagan this is a major security lapse which must be probed @sureshpprabhu how can a person bring a dagger inside the airport, and in a lounge ,politicians are vulnerable with this NEW phenomenon of selfies"

Meanwhile, Suresh Prabhu has taken note of the attack on Jagan Mohan Reddy, expressing shock.
