Actress Zaira Wasim's decision to quit Bollywood on grounds that her work interfered with her religion and faith has put her in focus of the debate across political parties.
Samajwadi Party's MP ST Hassan taking a hardline approach to the issue stated that 'Muslim women can't flaunt their skin'
Calling 'skin show' as haram, Hassan stated that women are not 'permitted to show skin' in Islam.
He said, "There shouldn't be any politics. I understand because I'm a Muslim that women are not permitted to show their skin. They not allowed to display anything because of which it appeals to other non-mahram (unmarriageable kin) men. It is Haram."
"I believe the same thing is in Hinduism, but the path we are walking on, we have left our culture, the things we never saw on the screens with our kids 25 years ago has changed. We are walking on the path of Western culture and that is not a very good indication," he added.
Earlier in the day, Shiv Sena spokespersonPriyanka Chaturvedi called out Zaira Wasim for portraying Islam as 'intolerant'
The actress shared a heartfelt note on Instagram that read, "Though I may fit here perfectly, I do not belong here." The 'Secret Superstar' actor accepted in her post that Bollywood has given her immense love and support but this is not what makes her happy in life.
