On Wednesday, sixty-one days after seven-year-old Pradyuman Thakur was murdered in one of the ground-floor bathrooms of Ryan International School, Gurugram, the CBI made a breakthrough by taking a Class 11 student into custody.
The development came as a major revelation seeing as initial reports were clear that the murder had been committed by one of the school's bus conductors, Ashok Kumar.
With the CBI, which took over the case from the Haryana Police, still refusing to give anyone a clean chit, the case is far from closed. Any hint of cover up by the school is also being probed, and given the details of the alleged confession, it's clear why.
In fact, the manner in which the Pradyuman case investigation has panned out appears to be eerily similar to another high-profile murder in the National Capital Region: that of Aarushi Talwar.
