Ayodhya Verdict: Himachal Police issues warning against fake news

Ahead of the verdict in the sensitive Ayodhya land dispute case that is set to be given on Saturday, the Himachal Pradesh Police has issued a warning with regards to the circulation of fake news. Solan Superintendent of Police Madhusudan Sharma stated that strict penal action will be taken against those who indulge in circulation doctored videos, fake news, morphed pictures or any inflammatory material. “Everyone is requested to not forward any such posts. Solan police advises all citizens to maintain peace and harmony at all costs," he said.

The Supreme Court is scheduled to pronounce on Saturday its verdict in the politically sensitive case of Ram Janmbhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute in Ayodhya.

Section 144 imposed in Ayodhya 

Ahead of the verdict, security in Ayodhya has been beefed up. So far, 18,000 police officers, 3,000 state Rapid Action Force staff and 4,000 Central forces have been deployed to maintain law and order. All government and private colleges and schools have been shut in Uttar Pradesh till November 11, announced UP CM Yogi Adityanath on Friday night. Section 144 has been imposed in parts of Ayodhya. According to sources, State Chief Secretary and UP DGP themselves will be on ground zero to monitor the situation. The District Magistrate will be taking an hourly update directly from the Chief Minister's Office. Moreover, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will remain in a 'ready to move' position. Apart from this, nine helicopters have been made available for urgent movement basis as part of the security arrangements and three separate choppers will be present for aerial monitoring. Drones are being used in sensitive areas to monitor any spurious activity.

PM Modi has appealed for peace

PM Modi has appealed for peace and said "Whatever decision of the Supreme Court will come on Ayodhya, it will not be a victory or defeat for anyone. My appeal to the countrymen is that it should be the priority of all of us that this decision should further strengthen the great tradition of peace, unity and goodwill of India."
