Bihar: Armed Burglars Rob A Bank At Gunpoint; Dacoity Caught On Camera

Armed burglars on Monday looted Rs 30.26 lakh from a Dakshin Bihar Gramin bank in Bhojpur district of Bihar. The incident has been recorded on CCTV camera.

Armed burglars looted Rs 30.26 lakh from a Dakshin Bihar Gramin bank in Bhojpur district of Bihar. A CCTV footage reveals that around six to seven armed dacoits wearing masks entered the bank on Monday during lunchtime and held the employees and customers hostage at gunpoint. In the CCTV footage accessed by Republic TV, it shows that the manager of the bank Dinesh Prasad is held hostage holding his hands up and the dacoits are asking him about the whereabouts of the cash. Later, the masked dacoits also assaulted the manager with the butt of the pistol. 

Bank manager Dinesh Prasad said, "The miscreants entered the bank brandishing pistols and asked me for the vault key. They slapped and assaulted me several times and held a gun on my head and asked me to raise my hands." The entire incident lasted for over 25 minutes after which the miscreants escaped by opening fire in the air. An eyewitness, Sajjan Singh said that "Masked men entered the bank and kept us hostage at gunpoint. We were in a state of shock and feared for our life." Meanwhile, the police have begun the investigation and constituted teams to nab the culprits.

Superintendent of Police's statement

Bhojpur SP Sushil Kumar said, "30,26,000 rupees has been looted from the bank counter. There were security lapses on the part of the bank which did not have an armed security guard as six-armed burglars have executed this loot. We have constituted a team to investigate this. All escape routes have been sealed and other police stations have been informed about this dacoity."

Earlier dacoities

This dacoity is not an isolated case of loot and murder in the recent past in Bihar. In the past month, reports of loot, dacoity and murder is on a rise in Bihar. Today's incident is not an isolated case but in the recent past armed criminals snatched Rs 10 lakh from an employee of a petrol pump in Muzaffarpur while he was going to deposit the money in the bank. Armed dacoits had looted 35 lakhs from UCO bank at gunpoint in Sheohar district. In Begusarai district, three people of a family were found murdered in a family land dispute. In Darbhanga, criminals shot dead a cloth trader. In Vaishali district, armed criminals shot at police patrolling vehicle injuring one policeman. On the day of Dhanteras, armed criminals looted a jewellery shop and shot dead a customer.
