As per sources, the residents migrating from the region have allegedly claimed that women have been harassed by certain anti-social elements repeatedly and reportedly gun firing can be heard during night time in Prahlad Nagar, Meerut.

While no strict measures have been taken by the Uttar Pradesh in the matter even after repeated complaints by the resident against the rising hooliganism, people have also alleged that they were forced to abandon their houses. Sources have stated that a number of residents have put 'For Sale' signs on their houses, in an attempt to leave the locality.

Speaking in the matter, Meerut MP Rajendra Agrawal alleged that Hindus are scared in the area, claiming that Muslims are carrying out the events of hooliganism. On Friday, BJP Councillor Jitendra Pahva stated that while this issue has been raised at the society's meetings, no decision has been made to stop the hooliganism. He also alleged that the residents have no other option other than mass migration.

Meanwhile, as the number of families leaving their houses in the city continues to rise, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has reportedly asked officials to investigate into the case and give him a detailed report on the issue.
