A resident of Delhi's Saket has lodged an FIR against ICICI Bank in the national capital alleging fraud and theft of jewellery she had deposited there in February 2017.

As per Mansi Singh, the sister of complainant Neetu Sharma, the latter had taken a loan of Rs 14,70,000 from the private lender on the deposit of 890 grams of gold on Feb 26, 2017. Upon repaying the loan just over a year later, Sharma claims to have found that her deposited jewellery weighed 200 grans less!

Upon further inspection, it was discovered that the jewellery that was returned to Neetu Sharma was allegedly fake, something that she says the valuation personnel at ICICI Bank also certified.

In her complaint to the SHO at Saket, Mansi Singh says that her sister had deposited 21 bangles and 16 chains. However, when she tried to release her jewellery and deposited the complete loan amount with interest to the bank, the bank allegedly tried to give her artificial and fake jewellery that weighed approximately 660 grams (22 bangles and 9 chains).

In another complaint, Neetu Sharma states that two of the bangles had diamonds studded on them and had a value of Rs 35-40 lakhs. She also claims that some of the items deposited by her were heirlooms.

In email conversations accessed by Republic TV, a clearly perturbed Neetu Sharma has written to ICICI Bank, which has replied saying that they would get back to her by a predetermined time. However, as per Sharma, the Mumbai-headquartered bank didn't do so.

Here's a part of Neetu Sharma's email correspondence with ICICI Bank (redacted to preserve personal information):

When Republic TV spoke to Neetu Sharma, she hit out at the bank for allegedly defrauding her. An email to the same ID that was communicating with Neetu Sharma seeking a response from ICICI Bank went unanswered.
