Jharkhand mob-lynching case: 5 arrested, SIT constituted to investigate into 22-year old Tabrez Ansari's fatal lynching in Saraikela

In a major breakthrough in Jharkhand's Kharsawa mob lynching case, the prime suspect Pappu Mandal along with four others have been arrested on Monday by Jharkhand police, as per sources.

In a major breakthrough in Jharkhand's Kharsawa mob lynching case, the prime suspect Pappu Mandal along with four others have been arrested on Monday by Jharkhand police, as per sources. 

Sources have further reported that for investigating into the incident, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted.

Earlier on Sunday, Tabrez Ansari(22) who had been lynched by a mob last Tuesday for allegedly stealing a motorcycle, succumbed to his injuries and died in Saraikela, Jharkhand. As per news agency ANI, Tabrej's family has alleged that the attack was communal and that he was made to chant slogans of 'Jai Shri Ram' and 'Jai Hanuman' by the locals. 

Ansari who was on the way home to Saraikela from Jamshedpur last Tuesday was attacked by a mob barely 5 km away from his home. As per sources, videos of him being tied to a pole and being beaten for hours for allegedly stealing a motorbike have been widely circulated. Sources also report that the mob which attacked Ansari chanting 'Jai Shri Ram' and 'Jai Hanuman' had handed him over to the police after he lost consciousness.

Two officers Chandramohan Oraon and Bipin Bihari have been suspended for not reporting the seriousness of the issue to the higher authorities and registering a case of lynching on the very same day, said a government statement.

Responding to the incident, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi targeted the BJP and RSS, saying that they have successfully created a mindset where Muslims are seen as terrorists, anti-nationals & cow slaughters. Speaking to media, Owaisi further claimed that such incidents against the Muslim community will not stop until the BJP fulfill their Constitutional duties properly. 

"Incidents of mob lynching are not going to stop because BJP & RSS have increased the sense of hatred against Muslims. They've successfully created a mindset where Muslims are seen as terrorists, anti-nationals & cow slaughters. These incidents are not going to stop.  These incidents will only stop when BJP will do their constitutional duties properly. They are failing in their duties," said the AIMIM chief.

Earlier in the day, several leaders in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have accused the Modi government of being intolerant towards minorities.
