In an innovative move to encourage commuters to follow traffic rules, the Hyderabad traffic police have recently installed changing LED lights at a zebra crossing in the city. The specialty of these LED lights is that it reflects the traffic signal's real-time status i.e if the traffic signal glows red, the zebra crossing lights glow red indicating the commuters to stop their vehicles at that particular line. It also encourages people to refrain from jaywalking, especially at night.
The new traffic signal was shared by the commissioner of Hyderabad Police displaying the blinking lights.
Speaking ANI about this unique traffic control idea, Anil Kumar, Additional Commissioner of Police, Traffic Police said, “We could see many commuters jumping signals in the city. To curb this, we have installed LED strip lights on the stop line at traffic junctions on a pilot basis.”
The LED lights installed in the zebra crossing at the KBR Park traffic signal junction in the city has amazed many.
