In a massive crackdown on propagating fake news about Kashmir, The Superintendent of Srinagar Police, on Monday, has sent an official letter to Twitter asking it to share Twitter user 'WSK' (@WajSKhan)'s registered email Id, his mobile number, IP address, and any other access details.

The superintendent has also highlighted the gravity of the situation stating that the tweets of the user has the potential to aggravate the situation further and endanger lives of the general public in Kashmir.

CRPF and Kashmir police rebut fake news

Earlier in the day, the CRPF had called out the malicious content of the tweet posted by 'WSK' claiming baseless rumours regarding the situation of Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370. The CRPF clarified that security forces are working for bonhomie in the state.

On the heels of CRPF clarifying the rumours spread by 'WSK' regarding the Kashmiri police and the Indian Army in Kashmir, the Kashmir Zone Police too announced that it had taken up the matter regarding the malicious content with Twitter Support.

Meanwhile, Republic TV has been live from the various parts of the state where people have been celebrating Eid. Visuals show security officials distributing sweets and celebrating the festivities with people. "Everything is peaceful. The restriction have eased and there has been lot of improvement in public and transport movement," Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary said. Here is an aerial view:

Home Ministry statement:

Home Ministry gave a detailed report of the celebration in the valley on Monday. It said that prayers were offered peacefully in the various districts giving exact stats, it also said that approximately 10,000 people were present to offer prayers at Jamia Masjid in Baramulla. It also said that keeping in view the mischief of some elements, reasonable restrictions have been in place.
