NCP leader Praful Patel on Friday has been grilled for around 12 hours by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on alleged links with Dawood's aide Iqbal Mirchi's family. As the leader came out of the ED office in Mumbai on Friday night, he refused to answer any question. Sources present at the location said that he has been summoned for further questioning next week. Earlier, when Republic TV confronted him, he had said that he will speak at the correct time. He has in a press conference, blatantly defended Dawood aide Iqbal Mirchi's wife Hajra Iqbal Memon.

Praful Patel's two more deals with Mirchi family?

On Friday, Republic TV's senior news editor Shawan Sen accessed two more deed documents from 1999 and 2004 with the alleged signature of Praful Patel and the Mirchi family's Hajra Iqbal Memon. The documents accessed by Republic TV show a suit filed in 1999 by the owners describing how much land will be allotted to the tenants of the 14,000 square feet flat in Ceejay House. The document bears the names - 'Hajra Iqbal Memon', 'Asif Iqbal Memon' and 'Junaid Iqbal Memon' referred to as the tenants and Praful Patel along with 16 others as the Co-owners of the property developed by Millenium Developers. This document dated May 1999,  hints at Praful Patel's alleged deep links with the D-gang.

The other document dated 18 May 2004, states Millenium Developers as the owners of the property. This document too names Praful Patel as the co-owner of the property deal and Hajra Iqbal Memon as the tenant of the property. The documents also carry Patel and Hajra Memon's alleged signature. This is in addition to the 2007 deal signed between the Patel-family backed Millenium developers and the Mirchi family. ED is currently grilling the former Civil aviation minister about his alleged deal with the Mirchi family. Top ED sources have told Republic TV, “This is just the tip of the iceberg. Praful Patel will be questioned regarding all three agreements that have been signed. This shows that he had relations with the family for long.”

Praful Patel's sign on deal?

Earlier on Monday, Republic Media Network had accessed a document bearing the alleged signature of NCP leader Praful Patel on a deal with those linked to Dawood's aide Iqbal Mirchi. The document clearly shows the name ' Praful Manoharbhai Patel' on the document and names 'Asif Iqbal Memon', 'Hajra Iqbal Memon' and 'Junaid Iqbal Memon', all linked to Iqbal Mirchi. The document accessed, appears to be a sale deal between Praful Patel and Dawood's aide. This document unmasks the alleged link between NCP's top leader Praful Patel and Iqbal Mirchi's deal on part of the Ceejay House property of Millenium Developers in Worli, Mumbai. Apart from the signatures, the deed also showed Praful Patel's photo and alleged thumbprint in the deal along with Hajra Memon's alleged photo and thumbprint.

ED probes Mirchi family's laundering

Earlier on Saturday, Republic TV accessed document indicating that prima facie there is a clear link between the international drug dealer and NCP leader Praful Patel’s family. An investigation carried out by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) reveals that Mirchi amassed various properties in India and overseas from the proceeds of crime generated through various illegal offences. The agency has identified several properties in Mumbai “beneficially owned by Mirchi and his family member”. Two of the properties in Mumbai were sold to M/s Sunblink Realtors Pvt Ltd and M/s Millennium Developers Pvt Ltd “through dubious means of sale proceeds which were eventually laundered.”

ED has revealed that a part of the proceeds of the sale of these properties was routed through fake bank accounts opened in a bank in Chennai.  The company linked to Praful Patel entered into an agreement with Mirchi to develop the property. There was no litigation in 2007 when two floors of the building were handed over to Mirchi, according to ED. These revelations have been refuted by NCP on the ground that Ceejay House is not owned by an individual.
