Yet another terrorist attack has occurred in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on Tuesday, with terrorists reportedly lobbing a hand grenade at a police station in the district. Sources report that five civilians have been injured in the attack.
This is the third attack mounted by terrorists in the state. Earlier on Monday, an Army convoy came under attack by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in the Arihal village of Pulwama, J&K. As per sources, a vehicle of the 44 RR was targeted, with the vehicle getting damaged in the attack.
While sources later reported that the attack had not succeeded, they added that the troops aboard the convoy are safe. The area had been cordoned and search operations had commenced. Six Army Jawans have sustained injuries in the terror incident and are stated to be stable.
Moreover, 2 civilians also sustained injuries due to this explosion. They were evacuated to hospital by the Jawans and are undergoing treatment.
Previously on Wednesday, five CRPF personnel and a police inspector had been killed in a terror attack in Anantnag in which a lone Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist targeted a patrol team of the paramilitary force. Khan, the SHO of Saddar Police station in Anantnag, reached the site soon after.
The moment he stepped out of his official bulletproof vehicle, along with his service rifle, a barrage of bullets were fired by the terrorist. One ricocheted from the butt of his service rifle and hit his liver and duodenum, the officials said. Even in this condition, the officer kept firing bullets at the terrorist before he collapsed, they said.
He finally succumbed to his injuries on Sunday at AIIMS hospital. Khan is survived by a wife and two sons, aged four and one. He was buried on Tuesday with full honours.
