Three Women Arrested For Beating A Police Personnel At A District Hospital In Uttar Pradesh's Sitapur

In yet another scuffle during poll seasons, three women have been arrested, for beating police personnel Rita Kumari belonging to the Prantiya Raksha Dal (PRD) at a district hospital in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, as per the police.

"On Tuesday, the PRD personnel Rita Kumari was on duty at the district hospital. A few women tried to skip the line. When the PRD personnel objected, the women thrashed and slapped her," said Sitapur Circle Officer Yogendra Singh, while talking to the media. 

As per reports, there was a huge rush at the counter for issuing slips to patients at the district hospital. Due to which, on enquiring the women their slips and objecting to skipping the queue, she was thrashed by the women with shoes, which led to Rita Kumari sustaining injuries on her mouth.

On getting reports about the incident, Kotawali police immediately rushed to the district hospital to handle the situation.

A case has been registered by the police on the assailants.

This attack comes merely a day after Maoist rebels staged a deadly attack on a convoy of BJP workers on Tuesday, killing MLA Bhima Mandavi and four other people in his vehicle with an improvised explosive device(IED) in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh, as per police reports.

The rebels detonated the device in the Dantewada district — an insurgent stronghold — just two days before the Lok Sabha elections begin in India, said the police.

Five soldiers were critically wounded when their escort vehicle was hit by the explosion and reinforcements of paramilitary soldiers were rushed to the area, said the CRPF.

Post the attacks, Chief Electoral Officer, Chhattisgarh has taken an immediate Video Conference meeting of collectors and SPs of the affected districts covering Phase 1 and phase 2 in Chhattisgarh, and instructed them to take utmost precautions over the next few days.
